FAQ
Where are you located?
elizabeth bakes operates out of a tiny home kitchen under the Texas Cottage Food Law in Denton, TX-- located off Bolivar Street, just a few blocks north of the downtown square! *PLEASE NOTE: I am not a store front bakery open to the public and do not have cakes/cookies available on demand.
When/Where can I pick up my cookies &/or cake?
I am available Wednesday-Saturday for pick up (times may vary):
-Wednesday-Friday (times TBD)
-Saturday (8am-noon)
-Closed Sunday-Tuesday for rest and prep work
Do you have a minimum for cookies?
Yes, one dozen. However, there is the Personalized Gift Box option if you're looking for less than a dozen.
How far in advance do I need to place an order?
3-4 weeks--the earlier the better! I book up quickly! A rush fee of $25 may be applied to orders placed less than 1 week prior to pick up. Sometimes I can squeeze in an order with a week or less notice, so always check with me by sending an email!
When is payment expected?
To secure your order for pick up, payment is expected as soon as a quote is given. I take payment via Venmo, PayPal, or remaining balances can be paid by cash/card at pick up.
Do you deliver?
Sometimes. If your order exceeds $250 and if I have the availability. Delivery starts at $30 and increases based on location.
Do you ship?
I am not allowed to ship under the Texas Cottage Food Law.
What is your return/cancellation policy?
All sales are final. If your event is cancelled for any reason (including COVID-19), you will have EB credit that can be used within one year.
How long do decorated cookies & cakes stay fresh?
Cookies stay fresh for 4-5 days boxed (not individually wrapped) or up to 3+ weeks individually wrapped. If you'd like to place your cookies on a platter without bags at your event, make sure to select the "Boxed" option when submitting an order request.
Did you know? You can also freeze decorated cookies by placing them in a Tupperware wrapped with saran wrap. Freeze for up to 3 months. To thaw: before taking cookies out, place wrapped Tupperware on the counter until it reaches room temperature-- this will help with color bleed.
*Cakes should be kept covered in the fridge for up to 3 days, or saran wrapped and placed in the freezer for up to 3 months. More info on this below!
Do you offer other cookie flavors?
All sugar cookies are my signature vanilla-almond recipe made from scratch using real butter, sugar, eggs, flour, vanilla, and almond extract. I sometimes offer specialty flavors during holiday sales!
What makes decorated cookies so unique?
Decorated cookies are delicious little works of edible art! There's ALOT that goes into creating decorated sugar cookies: it takes hours to design, prep, bake, decorate, and package orders (royal icing typically needs 8-12 hours to set). One dozen cookies can easily take me anywhere from 6-12 hours to decorate depending on design.
How do I transport and store my cake?
Make sure you have plenty of floorboard space so your cake can ride level. If during the Summer, crank up the A/C! The icing WILL melt in the Texas heat, so much sure to go straight home to place the cake in the refrigerator. Your cake will need to be stored in the refrigerator until the day of the event and taken out a couple hours before serving to allow to come to room temperature. Cake will stay fresh in the refrigerator for 3 days in the box or frozen for up to 3 months!
*if you purchase any cookie toppers, they will be sent separately in a box for you to place on the cake yourself so that no damage is done to the cake or cookie topper during transit. The cake will need to be at room temperature before placing the cookie topper. If the cake is too cold, the fragile cookie topper could break when placing into the cake.
